Dental veneers are thin sheets of porcelain, roughly the size of a contact lens, that your dentist at Gies Family Dental places onto your existing teeth. Dr. Gies will match the tooth-colored porcelain so that your veneers blend in seamlessly with your surrounding teeth to give you the beautiful smile you’ve always wanted.
Veneers are great in that they can:
Veneers can also take the place of other cosmetic dentistry procedures like teeth whitening, Invisalign®, bonding, and dental crowns. While this isn’t always possible, Dr. Gies can help you determine which procedures will give you the long-lasting, beautiful smile you really want.
Choosing porcelain veneers comes with many benefits, including:
Getting veneers is a multi-appointment process. When you go in to get your veneers, Dr. Gies will first prepare your teeth to accommodate the veneers. This process involves shaving down a bit of your tooth enamel so that the veneers can fit on top of your teeth; you should not feel any pain during this process. Once Dr. Gies has shaved down enough enamel, he will take impressions of your teeth to send to the lab so that they can custom-make your veneers. Before you leave your first appointment, Dr. Gies will fit you with temporary veneers.
During your second appointment, Dr. Gies will check to make sure that the veneers are the right shape, size, and color before permanently affixing them to your teeth. After confirming that they are exactly what you wanted, he will individually bond the veneers to your teeth with a special bonding cement.
Following the placement of your veneers, you will come in for a follow-up visit to make sure that your veneers are exactly what you want.
With proper care, your veneers could last you between 15 and 20 years!
There’s a good chance that veneers are a good option for you, but they aren’t right for everyone. Because the tooth preparation process involves shaving down some enamel, your natural teeth will always need to be protected by veneers or crowns.
A good candidate for veneers is someone:
The actual cost of your veneers will depend on a number of factors, including the number of veneers you are getting. Although the up-front cost is generally higher than other procedures, most people find it worth it. To help alleviate the financial burden, we partner with CareCredit to offer you affordable monthly payment plans.
An investment in your smile is about more than a beautiful smile. It is an investment in your confidence and your quality of life.
